Ingredients

1 cup of Flax Seeds

3/4 cup of water

1/4 cup chia seeds

1/4 cup za'atar

1/4 tsp salt

pepper to taste

*can add any seeds such as sesame, sunflower

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

  • Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • Mix flax, chia and water together in a medium bowl.  Make sure each seed gets some water so they puff up.

  • Cover and let sit in the fridge for 1 hour.

  • Add any other seeds, za'atar, salt and pepper.

  • Spread the mix onto the lined baking sheet, making sure there are no holes.  The mix will be goopy.

  • Bake for 1 hour, until crunchy.

  • To make uniform crackers score half way through the baking time.  For rustic crackers break the slab apart once cooled

  • Store crackers in an airtight container

For a savory cracker, add 1 tsp. onion powder, 1/2 tsp. garlic powder, 1-1/2 tsp. dried rosemary

Experiment with the seeds, black sesame, white sesame, and sunflower seeds.

Serving ideas.  Enjoy with hummus or guacamole.  Spread chicken salad or tuna salad on top instead of making a sandwich.
